Partial Universality
Apropos
The Partial Universality is a sound-based digital artwork deconstructing the fleeting spectacle of major cinema production logos, stretching their high-speed efficiency into a slow, meditative audiovisual experience. By abstracting these corporate visual signatures, the work transforms their polished certainty into a space of suspense and tension. Through a sombre, spatialised sound design, Partial Universality unsettles the assumed neutrality of cinematic universality, exposing the implicit power structures embedded in its visual and sonic codes. Rooted in digital ethnography and critical data set inventory, the piece interrogates how global cinematic branding shapes perception, authority, and collective memory.
