Messenger 传话

The work Messenger 传话 captures 100 individuals filming themselves with a mobile phone, repeating the message recorded by the previous messenger. The work becomes a contradictory display where the original message of contrived platitudes dissolve and mutate into personal meaning.

Messenger 传话 is informed by the Messenger or Telephone game in which a message is whispered from one player to the next one, hence modifying it due to a lack of memory, misunderstanding or simple refusal to repeat the message distorting it to a more surreal meanings. The original story disappears slowly to give place to more genuine speeches or subtle political statements. This work aims to address the various effects and circulation of urban legends and rumours one misinterpret or embellish.
